My husband and I live in Idaho. We enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors. We cannot say enough about the Nissan Xterra. It is a great rig. We have hunted, fished, gone camping, mountain climbing and four wheeling with our 2008 Xterra. It has never let us down. When our children moved to Idaho we decided that they needed a reliable 4 wheel drive so we sold them our 2008 and we bought a brand new Xterra, now we are all happy. Thank you Nissan. Please do not turn the Xterra into a cross over vehicle in the future, it will ruin its ability to be an all around outdoor functional machine.

Only real problem - the wind deflector screws were loctited or something. I had to drill them out (of course damaging the plastic) a bit to install the gearbox in its place. Good thing it uses different screw holes.

Having had to deal with quite a lot of snow, my Xterra has performed beautifully. Disregarding the fuel consumption it is a great 4x4, it just goes. A quieter non sliding material in the cargo area might be nice but the piece of carpet I put there can be used to get traction if need be, though I seriously doubt I'll ever need it for that. The tailgate / lift gate just doesn't fill me with confidence that it will withstand the test of time. It just feels a little too light, and the hydraulics don't extend far enough for people over 6 feet tall. Fuel economy is not as advertised Nissan should do a better job with offering a more competitive mpg than an average of 17 mpg and in reality it is more like 14 mpg, really poor, but otherwise the Xterra suits my needs very well this is my third Nissan and I have liked all 3 but the over all fuel economy on my 2014 Xterra is worse than my 2000 Xterra. Toyota was not much better in their small trucks or 4 runners that is my largest complaint, why can't they figure out how to get 25-30 mpg in a true 4x4 and keep it affordable for middle-class people who have many things to budget in life. My Xterra will go anywhere I want it to and the versatility is great for all of the things I like to do outside of work but again the gas mileage flat out sucks.

The gas mileage is 30% off from what window sticker says it should get. Could have bought a large truck and got as good or better mileage. Do not plan on keeping it long for that reason.

The side mirrors manual function is ridiculous. These should be automatic even on the base model. The bluetooth is difficult to use as it asks way too many options/questions before it makes a call. It would be nice if at least the driver's seat had automatic maneuverability.

This is my 3rd Xterra. Had an 06 and 08. The 08 was totaled in hit and run roll over and it saved my life. Will always have an Xterra until it no longer serves me. Thank you.

It would be nice if there was any way to secure the tailgate when loads are longer than the vehicle. If the headroom in the back was 1" taller, it would be more user-friendly for transporting equipment or items from the hardware store. I would like to see a means to secure the trunk door to the bed when loads extend beyond the length of the vehicle.

Improved gasoline mileage would be appreciated--my Nissan Rogue is superior to the Xterra in regard to gas mileage.

As one of the last true off-road capable 4wd SUVs Nissan should strongly reconsider a replacement in this segment. There are fewer choices in this shrinking segment and still plenty of outdoor adventure enthusiasts with a desire to explore!
