About the 2014 Dodge Avenger

2nd generation (2008-2014), final model year; this is the last year of the sedan after the major 2011 update.

Dodge positioned the Avenger as a sporty-looking midsize sedan for shoppers who wanted more attitude than a typical family four-door. Its core appeal was straightforward: bold styling, useful cabin space, solid standard safety equipment, and the option of strong V6 power without stepping into a larger sedan. Compared with rivals, Dodge leaned more on style and performance flavor than class-leading efficiency or the newest in-car tech.

The SE remained the straightforward base sedan, while the SXT added everyday upgrades such as alloy wheels, automatic climate control, and a power driver’s seat. The SE V6 paired simpler trim with the stronger 3.6-liter V6, while the R/T added the V6, a firmer suspension, heated sport seats, Bluetooth, and remote start.

“Fuel economy is the worst in any car I've ever owned... including trucks and the Charger. I was definitely misled, since it's one of the reasons I allowed myself to be talked into a car I didn't even want.”
