About the 2013 BMW 1 Series

First-generation U.S. 1 Series coupe/convertible (E82 coupe, E88 convertible), final U.S. model year.

BMW positioned the 1 Series coupe and convertible as a compact, rear-wheel-drive driver’s car with seating for four, inline-six power, and a more direct, playful feel than larger luxury coupes. In BMW’s own language, it was the small car in the lineup that distilled the brand’s core formula: balanced handling, strong engine response, and a choice between a fixed-roof coupe or open-top convertible without moving up to a bigger 3 Series.

The 2013 lineup consists of small rear-wheel-drive coupes and convertibles, led by the balanced 230-hp 128i and the quicker 300-hp turbocharged 135i. The new 320-hp 135is is the most performance-focused version, with a sport suspension, upgraded cooling, a performance exhaust, sport seats, and distinctive black exterior trim. All three have a six-speed manual transmission and Bluetooth.
