Maserati Quattroporte

Big, bold, and stylish, the Maserati Quattroporte certainly makes a statement wherever it goes. Well-regarded for its powerful V6 and V8 engines, the full-size luxury sports sedan is also lauded by owners for its upscale interior, athletic performance, and plush ride. However, the Quattroporte does come with a few drawbacks. Owners lament the Italian exotic’s expensive price tag, poor fuel economy, and high running costs.

Maserati Quattroporte Model Lineup

The Maserati Quattroporte is a full-size luxury sports sedan with seating for four to five, depending on the configuration. It is the larger of two sedans available from the Italian automaker, measuring about a foot longer than its midsize sibling, the Ghibli, with which it shares some components.

Maserati has built the Quattroporte in a variety of trims and performance levels over the years. From the debut of the sixth-generation Quattroporte in 2014 through the 2019 model year, the Italian sports sedan was primarily offered in three trims: the entry-level S, the mid-tier S Q4, and the range-topping GTS. The 350 briefly slotted below the S as the base trim level for the 2018 model year but was dropped from the lineup the following year. For 2020, the luxe-leaning GranLusso and the racier GranSport replaced the S Q4 and GTS’s respective positions in the lineup, but only for a year. In 2021, the Quattroporte was reduced to just two trims – S and Trofeo – before the Modena joined the lineup for 2022 as a new mid-range trim. That year, the S was also renamed the GT.

Regardless of trim level, the Quattroporte is handsomely equipped with premium features. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a sunroof have long been standard on the Quattroporte, as have front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto arrived as standard features in 2017. Blind-spot warning followed in 2018 and was joined in 2020 by adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, and a surround-view camera. In 2021, a 10.1-inch touchscreen replaced an 8.4-inch unit and also introduced a standard wireless smartphone charging pad.

A handful of different engines have powered the Quattroporte over the years. A 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with over 400 horsepower has served as the standard mill on most trims, while a 3.8-liter turbocharged V8 with well over 500 hp is the longstanding engine on range-topping models, such as the Trofeo. A lower-spec 3.0-liter V6 with 345 hp also appeared on the base 350 trim for 2018; it was dropped from the lineup the following year only to reappear as the standard powerplant on the entry-level GT for 2022. All Quattroporte versions utilize an eight-speed automatic transmission driving either the rear wheels (standard) or all four when equipped with available all-wheel drive, which is designated with “Q4” badging. No hybrid or electric versions have been offered.

2015 Maserati Quattroporte

I am 79 yrs old and not as nimble as I used to be; I travel by road a lot; I don't have access to a race track or an abandoned airfield.

Therefore, the 2015 quattroporte GTS suits me perfectly: It's got more speed than I'll ever have an opportunity to use. It's got as much performance as you can ever buy and not have to be a contortionist to get into. It's conformable for long drives and has more than ample luggage space. It's a Hell of a lot of FUN to drive on twisty mountain roads ! ! !

2015 Maserati Quattroporte

I must say that I am somewhat disappointed that the new vehicle does not live up to the old one. Rear vies mirror blocks too much of the front view, very difficult to get the car in reverse, seat belt holder too short, car can not go through a car wash because when you exit the vehicle it automatically goes into park, new body material makes the car feel like it is going to break away in tight turns.

2015 Maserati Quattroporte

Maserati is on the same frame as Chrysler 300 it should have all the same if not more features. Maserati does not have lane change alert on turn signal and mirror light that the 300 has. Big safety issue.
