Lincoln MKT

The Lincoln MKT is a luxury version of the Ford Flex, the retro-inspired three-row wagon that Lincoln’s parent company sold throughout the 2010s. And that’s not a bad thing. While the MKT ditches the Flex’s funky styling in favor of a more upscale look, it retains its smooth and powerful EcoBoost powertrain. It also loads up its spacious cabin with tons of high-end features, such as standard heated and ventilated front seats. Owners of the MKT praise the model for its comfy ride, brisk acceleration, and premium interior. On the downside, it earns some criticism for its lackluster fuel economy and cramped third row. Additionally, most advanced safety features (such as blind-spot warning) are available only as options.

Lincoln MKT Model Lineup

Produced from 2010 through 2019, the MKT is a full-size three-row luxury crossover with room for six or seven people, depending on the configuration. At the time, it was Lincoln’s second-largest vehicle, slotting between the midsize MKX (renamed the Nautilus in 2019) and the full-size Navigator. The MKT shares a platform and many components with the Ford Flex, which is made by Lincoln’s parent company. It was replaced in 2020 by the all-new Aviator.

Lincoln sold the MKT in two trims: the base model, which was renamed Premier in 2018, and the EcoBoost (or GTDI), which was renamed Reserve that same year. Both versions come well equipped, including a panoramic glass roof, keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, a power liftgate, and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with a rearview camera. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto joined the standard-features list in 2017; two years later, blind-spot warning was also made standard (after being an option). Other notable options include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist (first offered in 2013), navigation, and rear-seat entertainment.

Motivating the MKT is one of two powertrains. The base version utilizes a 3.7-liter V6 engine, which initially produced 268 horsepower but was revised to 303 hp in 2013. It's mated to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels, unless the model is equipped with optional all-wheel drive (offered for 2010 and 2011 only). The more powerful EcoBoost variant (aka GTDI or Reserve) boasts a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 making 355 hp until a 2013 upgrade, which added ten more ponies (to 365 total). It also pairs with a six-speed automatic and comes standard with all-wheel drive. No hybrid or electric MKT versions were made.

2014 Lincoln MKT AWD

Vehicle is living up to our expectations - am most pleased with quietness (best of 2 previous Lincolns owned) and very good ride and driving experience. Cargo capacity is wonderful in a luxury car!

2014 Lincoln MKT AWD

Need hand bar on driver's side----front seat needs to be just a few inches longer behind the knees---something not quite as comfortable as could be in the front passenger seat
