Lincoln MKC

At first glance, it would be easy to dismiss the MKC as little more than a dressed-up Ford Escape (upon which it’s based). However, the small luxury crossover from Lincoln easily stands on its own merits, which include sleek styling and a plush cabin with a long list of high-end features. Owners of the MKC give it high marks for those qualities as well as for its smooth ride and easy maneuverability. It also tends to be more affordable than competing models from other premium brands. On the downside, the little Lincoln does get some demerits for its sluggish base engine and somewhat cramped rear seat.

Lincoln MKC Model Lineup

Produced from 2015 through 2019, the five-seat MKC was Lincoln’s entry into the compact luxury crossover SUV segment. It was also the automaker’s smallest sport-ute at the time, slotting below the midsize MKX (which was later renamed the Nautilus). The MKC shares a platform and some components with the Ford Escape, which is built by Lincoln’s parent company. The model was replaced by the Corsair starting in 2020.

Lincoln sold the MKC in four trims: the base-level Premiere, the mid-range Select, the well-equipped Reserve, and the fully loaded Black Label. All come with a generous set of standard features, including parking sensors, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable and heated front seats, and an 8.0-inch infotainment display, which first got Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration in 2017. Most active safety equipment, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, blind-spot warning, and lane-departure warning, is optional or limited to higher trims. Other notable options include a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and navigation.

Motivating the MKC is either a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 240 horsepower or an optional 2.3-liter unit (available on the Select and higher trims), which boosts output to 285 ponies. All-wheel drive (AWD) is included with the upgrade to the 2.3-liter engine, but the 2.0-liter mill comes standard with front-wheel drive and offers AWD as an option. Both versions mate to a six-speed automatic transmission. No hybrid or electric variants were produced.

Headrest sits too far forward, adjustment does not allow to move it back far enough.

2015 Lincoln MKC FWD

I love my new Lincoln MKC! The only option I didn't get to purchase on the spot, was the power lift gate. When getting older, a near must. The only comment I have for Ford/Lincoln is to work on the reliability of "Sync". Half the time it does not work. Disappointing...

Love the MKC but wish the gas take were larger and eco boost was on it. Looking for the best gas mileage possible for the type of car. Was disappointed when I learned it lacked fog lights as I bought the model with everything. I wanted the blue vehicle and wanted the chestnut interior since it is cooler feeling and I'm moving south but was told it was a special order and I did not have the time or money to wait.
