Ford Taurus

The Ford Taurus debuted in 1986 and quickly became a mainstay American family car thanks to its innovative design, comfortable interior, and value-oriented price. Its most recent (sixth) generation first appeared in 2010, boasting an upscale look, a standard V6 engine, and a roomy and well-equipped cabin. That year also re-introduced the famed SHO (Super High Output) variant whose brawny twin-turbo V6 and sport-tuned suspension give it a level of performance that is rare in the full-size sedan segment. However, the Taurus does face some challenges. Its interior, while spacious, can feel dated compared to more contemporary competitors -- particularly 2015 and older models, which have the automaker's occasionally frustrating MyFord Touch infotainment system. Additionally, fuel efficiency from the V6 trails behind the leaders in the class. Buyers should also note that Ford discontinued the Taurus after the 2019 model year.
