BMW X1
BMW first brought its subcompact luxury crossover to the U.S. in 2013. Since then, the X1 has proven itself to be an enticing mix of performance, style, and utility. Its punchy turbocharged engines and nimble handling make it enjoyable to drive whether through city streets or on the open road. Inside, the X1 features a well-crafted cabin with premium materials and plenty of available tech features. It also stands out in its class for its surprisingly generous cargo area. However, the X1 isn't without a few drawbacks. Some might find its ride to be on the firm side, which can detract from overall comfort. Also, while the interior is high-quality, its somewhat conservative design makes it feel a bit less special than the spaces inside some of its flashier rivals.

Leased the car and gave it to my business partner to drive as I just did not enjoy driving it. I felt I was too low to the ground like a regular car and not a SUV. The steering was also a big factor in passing it along. I have been driving Mercedes ML and GLK's for the last 15 years and I did not like the way the steering handled even after the alignment was re-adjusted.

For the price, standard equipment is lacking. Almost all new cars provide Bluetooth voice control for phone without paying for a whole additional package. The location of the cruise control is awful. Also, less expensive brands include an automatic tailgate. I feel that I overpaid for this vehicle and got only minimal increase in technology that I wanted (over my 2010 Saab). I am definitely disappointed with the purchase.

I love the Brand, the drive, I hate the model itself. Not what I expected. Is. Uncomfortable.

The door unlock feature in the middle of the car is very inconvenient; needs to be at drivers door. The cell phone thing in the middle compartment should be removable. I do not use it and it makes the space unusable

It is a perfect car for San Francisco. It is small enough to park easily, enough power to make it up and down hills, the AWD is great for hills in the rain or making a trip to Tahoe. It can fit four full size adults and weekender bags and a fifth in pinch.

I wish my BMW X1 have built in dash navigation, I was told if my vehicle didn't come with it, I can't install any electronics anymore as it may damage the vehicle electrical system.

I've owned a lot of new cars - I typically lease a new car every 2-3 years. This has been, by far, the best car buying experience I've ever had. This is my first BMW and I cannot believe I waited this long to get one. The vehicle is superb in every respect (barring the lack of Xenon or LED lights! C'mon BMW!) - the fit and quality of the interior is unmatched by any other manufacturer. I've never driven a car that is this much fun to drive, including any of the sports cars I've owned (e.g., Nissan 370z, Mustang GT)!
