Volvo V60

Volvo has been famous for wagons for decades, and the V60 carries that tradition forward with both style and substance. Unlike the Volvo “bricks” of yesteryear, the V60 boasts shapely sheet metal, a chic cabin, and sophisticated powertrain options, including an available plug-in hybrid. V60 owners most appreciate the upscale wagon for its well-made and comfortable interior, which also offers surprising utility thanks to a capacious cargo area. On the downside, a fussy infotainment system and disappointing fuel economy are among the top owner complaints.

Volvo V60 Model Lineup

The V60 is a premium compact wagon based on Volvo’s similarly sized S60 sedan. With room for up to five passengers, it’s the smaller of two wagons offered by the Swedish automaker, measuring about a foot shorter than the midsize V90. The V60 lineup also includes the outdoorsy Cross Country, which adds about three inches of additional ground clearance as well as some rugged-looking body cladding and standard all-wheel drive to make it capable of light off-road duty.

Volvo has sold the V60 in a wide range of trims and configurations. Since 2019, it’s been offered in three main trims: the entry-level Momentum, the sport-themed R-Design, and the luxe Inscription. All versions come well-equipped with standard features, including dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, and a sunroof. LED headlights, forward collision mitigation, and lane-keeping assist all joined the standard-feature list in 2019, as did a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. That display grew to 12.3 inches in 2021, which is also the year when blind-spot warning became standard (after many years as an option). Other notable options include adaptive cruise control, navigation, and heated seats.

Since 2017, the V60 has been motivated by one of three available versions of Volvo’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The T5 is the entry-level mill, which initially offered 240 horsepower before receiving a boost to 250 hp in 2019. The mid-level T6 adds supercharging to the mix, upping output to 302 ponies (increasing to 316 hp in 2019). Starting in 2017, Volvo also produced a 362-hp version of this engine for its high-performance V60 Polestar variant, which in 2020 added an electric motor and a rechargeable battery to become the T8 Polestar Engineered, a plug-in hybrid offering a total of 415 horsepower as well as 22 miles of all-electric range. Midway through 2022, the T8 received a larger battery pack, increasing total output to 455 hp and all-electric range to 41 miles. All versions are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which routes power to the front wheels unless the model is equipped with available all-wheel drive.

2015 Volvo V60 2.0 Wagon FWD

1. There's a bug in the door locking programming. If it's not a bug, it's just an odd choice of logic. I recently noticed that if I let a passenger into the passenger side of the vehicle, unlocking just that door, then enter the car at the driver's side, then start up the car....the "folded in" mirrors won't fold out again. I have to manually re-engage an entire lock/unlock/start sequence to get them to unfold. I can't believe that was intentional. It feels like a bug that could get adjusted with an electronics update. 2. The backup camera doesn't shut off quickly. It frequently "hangs" in "on" mode even when I'm in Drive (Forward). The effect is cognitively jarring - I don't expect to see the world behind me in full color motion when I'm driving forward... and looking for, say, my music or radio controls. Slow s/w I imagine.

The V60 is a great car. I think it is beautiful. This is the prettiest Volvo I have ever owned. My last two were awesome....both were XC's....extremely reliable cars. I will always buy Volvo.

I have the V60 T6 R-design Platinum Package with the Polestar tune. On the topic of engine noise, I actually expected to hear something more... particularly, when the engine was under load and accelerating rapidly. This is a relatively high performance straight six and I would like to hear it when it is being exercised. I do not want to hear it all the time or when I am cruising down the interstate, but if I am "getting on it", I would like to hear it. This car is a "sportswagon" and so it should sound like one. Other than this, I positively adore this car. The 2015.5 V60 T6 R-design I purchased is one of Volvo's highest performing models, but it did not include items found on other manufacturer's performance models like: - drilled and slotted rotors - suspensions modifications for stiffer and better handling

Different cars for different purposes. This is one of 16 cars I own. I love it for what it is and what I use if for. Not my most prestigious car but very good for what I use it for. Different cars are for different purposes. This vehicle is for taking out other people and grand children.

2015 Volvo V60 3.0 Wagon AWD

Please do not discontinue the 6 cylinder turbo that is in my R-design V60. If there was no six cylinder I would probably have bought a BMW sportwagon which does not offer a 6. Rear visibility is somewhat limited--even with the headrests down. That is one feature I preferred in the BMW wagon. I have hit the windshield wiper stalk a few times by mistake and the steering wheel obscures some gauges. In Las Vegas the metal on the steering wheel gets too hot. Love the Rebel Blue, but more interior color choices would have been appreciated. Luggage space is a bit tight considering it is a wagon. Love AWD wagons and this is one of the few.

2015 Volvo V60 2.0 Wagon FWD

I love many things about the Volvo V60. It handles beautifully and is very responsive, making it fun to drive for someone who is not looking to take it on a race track. I love the adjustable steering wheel. Being short it enables me to have better visibility. The collapsible rear headrests are wonderful, again giving greater visibility. The navigation is easy to use. I don't use all the tech items, but am happy to have navigation and Bluetooth connectivity for on the road convenience. The rear storage is amazing for a smaller car. After having an XC90, I was concerned that I would lose valuable storage. I bought a six foot plant recently and had no problem transporting it home. The 60/40 split in great. I also love the sleek look of this car, although that may be unique to each person. It was important to me to get a new car with better gas mileage, which is why I looked at the Lexus CT 200 hybrid. It was just too small inside; more of a young person's car. When I read about the new E-drive, I was sold. It remains to be seen, what the gas mileage will really be. I've only had the car one month plus. It is clearly better than the 2005 XC90. Lastly, I appreciate Volvo's attention to safety!! Love my new car!!!!

Very disappointed with the actual freeway mileage I am getting. Nowhere near the rated mpg, and I drive economically.

I feel like a backup camera and push-button start should be standard at this price point. It's standard on a $20k Nissan Altima.

Do not have it long. This is our 4th Volvo. We always enjoyed driving them. So far our new Volvo 60 wagon is spacious, many safety items and a pleasure to drive.
