Toyota Corolla iM

When Toyota shuttered its Scion brand in 2016, it carried over a few models under the Toyota badge. That's how the Scion iM became the Corolla iM in 2017. The model was short-lived, however, as the Japanese automaker replaced it just two years later with the new-for-2019 Corolla Hatchback. Despite its short production run, the Corolla iM is not without its positive attributes. Owners rate it highly for its effective climate control system, comfortable ride, and excellent reliability. On the downside, some find its 137-horsepower engine lacking in oomph. In addition, its rear seats are a bit cramped, even for the compact segment.

Toyota Corolla iM Model Lineup

The Corolla iM is a compact hatchback with room for up to five people. During its brief production run (2017-2018), it slotted between the smaller Yaris and the larger Prius in Toyota’s lineup of hatchbacks. The Corolla iM is based on the Scion iM, a model that was discontinued in 2016 when the Scion brand was shuttered by parent company Toyota. In 2019, the Corolla iM was discontinued and replaced by the Corolla Hatchback.

Under the hood, the Corolla iM employs a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 137 horsepower. It’s mated either to a standard six-speed manual or to an optional continuously variable automatic transmission. Power is routed to the front wheels (only), and no hybrid or electric variants were made.

Toyota sold the Corolla iM in a single base trim. Standard equipment includes heated side mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, and a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity and one USB port. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were never offered, nor was adaptive cruise control or blind-spot monitoring. However, lane-departure warning and forward collision mitigation are both included.

The vehicle is smart, runs well, plenty of room in the hatch-back, I have placed a fine set of seat-covers to ensure the longevity/protection of the interior, and I am getting used to the MULTIPLE new-fangled electronics. HOWEVER, I am wishing I had spent the money to fix up my OLD car, as I miss it terribly.

With the sporty look, extra smooth driver and roomy interior, I was honestly surprised with the lower cost of such car.

2017 Toyota Corolla iM

When you drive the car to explore its capabilities and limitations (before purchase) pay attention to the size of the windows, especially the rear window. It is small. and when it is raining/snowing, the rear view window wiper clears what it can...making the view even smaller. IT CAN BE A PROBLEM.

The vehicle does not have mush room to enter at drivers side a lot of bending is required, I do not care for the interior seat material it is hard to wipe or clean.
