Ram 1500

The Ram 1500 is one of the best full-size pickups on the market. It offers not only outstanding utility, including impressive (though not class-leading) towing and hauling capabilities, but also a surprisingly comfortable ride, thanks in large part to its fully independent rear suspension – a first for the segment. Ram also makes the 1500 enormously configurable. Its wide range of cab and bed sizes as well as engine and trim offerings make it easy for buyers to find a spec that matches their needs, whether it’s a basic work truck or a luxury-lined suburban family hauler. On the downside, the 1500 is not particularly nimble or fuel-efficient, but that’s not too surprising for such a large vehicle.

Ram 1500 Model Lineup

The Ram 1500 is a full-size light-duty pickup truck, which is available with two or four doors. The two-door version, known as the regular cab, seats up to three. Four-door versions can seat up to six and come in two cab styles: the quad cab and the roomier crew cab, which offers additional rear-seat legroom. Available bed sizes range from 5 feet 7 inches to 8 feet in length. Maximum payload capacity is 2,320 pounds, while maximum towing capacity is 12,750 pounds.

Ram offers the 1500 in a wide variety of trims, including the bare-bones Tradesman, the fuel-efficient HFE, the mid-range Big Horn, the well-equipped Laramie, the off-road-oriented Rebel, the top-of-the-line Limited, and the high-performance TRX.

Under the hood, a range of engines is available for the 1500. A gasoline-powered V6 is standard, and more powerful V8s are optional, as is a fuel-efficient turbodiesel V6. All are mated to a standard automatic transmission powering the rear wheels, unless equipped with optional four-wheel drive.

Note also that the 1500 Classic, which first appeared in 2019, is a continuation of the fourth-generation model, which Ram sells alongside the current fifth-generation 1500.

Vehicle needs to come with running boards. I had to pay an additional $1,000 to get them! This 1500 vehicle is difficult to enter & exit without running boards. I'm 5' 10" and it's a stretch to get in and out and my wife is 5'2" and it was very difficult for her. MAKE RUNNING BOARDS STANDARD!!

The added SAT antenna prevents me from using my garage. The overall height including the antenna should be listed in the specs.

The stock tires that come on the Ram are horrible. After 1,000 miles I switched the tires to all terrains, which is what is needed on this truck. Fog lights should be standard equipment on all 1500s.

So far I am really enjoying my new Ram. If I could adjust one thing it would be the tilt steering wheel. I would like it to move up higher

2014 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4WD

Wanted a truck that could tow trailers with ease. Did not realize it only had 3.22 differential ratio. Not the best for towing up hills. Do not like the hub caps on wheels. Would have preferred all alloy wheels. I noticed the wheels had cheap chrome hub cap over the aluminum wheel after I bought the truck. I noticed after I bought the truck it had a 3.22 ratio differential. Not the best for towing trailer.
