Mitsubishi Mirage

In a world of ever-larger and more complex cars, the Mirage is something of a throwback. The simple little Mitsubishi may not have an abundance of space, power, or features, but those deficits help it to be one of the most affordable models on the market. They also keep it lightweight, nimble, and fuel-efficient, which are some of the attributes that Mirage owners say they appreciate most about it. On the downside, its small fuel-sipping engine can feel sluggish and unrefined at times, and it offers little in the way of advanced safety features.

Mitsubishi Mirage Model Lineup

The Mirage is a subcompact hatchback with room for up to five passengers. Mitsubishi also makes a sedan version, known as the Mirage G4, which provides about three additional inches of rear-seat legroom. They’re the only non-SUV models in the Japanese automaker’s passenger car lineup.

Mitsubishi offers the Mirage in a range of trims, with the DE and ES at the low end, the LE in the middle, and the SE and GT on the high side. As an economy car, the Mirage lacks advanced features such as adaptive cruise control and blind-spot warning. However, Mitsubishi did make forward collision mitigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration standard for all trims in 2021.

Under the hood, the Mirage utilizes a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine that makes about 75 horsepower. It drives the front wheels via a standard five-speed manual transmission or an available continuously variable automatic (CVT). No hybrid or electric variants have been offered.

The Mirage is a fine car for driving to and fro. Is it particularly great in any specific way? Yes, the price is great -- especially if you find one from the previous model year or without much optional equipment.

The warranty is important, as you want the warranty to be covered for the duration of your loan. There is nothing worse than not only making a monthly car payment, but then be forced to use additional out of pocket expenses to repair your vehicle.

This car is fun to drive, extremely reliable, and perfect for any student or person who drives a lot. The gas mileage on this vehicle is one of the best I've experienced.

I am very unhappy with my car. The pick up is slow and loud. I feel like I'm driving around in a cartoon car.
