Mazda MX-30

It only takes a moment in its presence to understand that the MX-30 is one of the most unconventional compact crossovers on the market. Mazda’s first all-electric vehicle stands out thanks to its attention-grabbing looks, unique interior materials and design, sharp handling, and quick-charging battery. However, with an EPA-estimated range of just 114 miles, the MX-30 comes up short of most competitors. Some rivals also outshine the compact Mazda when it comes to overall performance and passenger space.

Mazda’s first all-electric vehicle stands out thanks to its attention-grabbing looks, unique interior materials and design, sharp handling, and quick-charging battery. Mazda MX-30 Model Lineup

The MX-30 is an all-electric compact crossover SUV with available seating for five. Based on the CX-30, Mazda's gas-powered subcompact crossover, the MX-30 is the lone all-electric vehicle in the Japanese automaker’s lineup.

Mazda builds the MX-30 in two trims: the Base and the better-appointed Premium Plus. Standard creature comforts include heated front seats, an 8.8-inch center touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a sunroof. Some notable driving aids are also standard, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, rear parking sensors, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot warning. Front parking sensors and a surround-view camera are available as options.

Powering the MX-30 is a 35.5-kWh battery pack that pairs with an electric motor to drive the front wheels (only). Generating 143 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque, the electric powertrain has a range of 114 miles on a single charge, per EPA estimates. While its range is on the short side, the MX-30’s smallish battery pack can be replenished from 20-80% in just three hours when connected to a 240-volt at-home charger or a scant 30 minutes when connected to a DC fast charger.
