Kia Stinger

Launched in 2018, the Stinger represents Kia’s surprise move into the premium sports sedan segment. Boasting a lively rear-wheel-drive platform and a range of punchy turbocharged engines, the sleek four-door appeals to performance enthusiasts seeking an alternative to traditional European options such as the BMW 3 Series. Owners appreciate the Stinger for its comfortable cabin and generous array of standard features as well as its competitive price point. However, some note that its fuel efficiency could be better while its interior quality doesn’t quite match its more premium rivals. Overall, though, the Stinger is still a worthy contender for anyone seeking a value-oriented performance sedan.

Kia Stinger Model Lineup

The Stinger is a midsize sports sedan with a liftback design and seating for up to five passengers. It’s Kia’s largest sedan, measuring about four inches longer than the next smaller model, the K5, and it shares a platform and some components with the Genesis G70, which is made by the Korean automaker's sister company. The Stinger received a mid-cycle refresh for 2022, which brought subtle exterior styling changes, enhanced interior materials, and improvements in technology. It is expected to be discontinued after the 2023 model year.

The Stinger's available trims include the GT-Line, GT, GT1, and GT2. The GT-Line is the entry-level trim featuring a four-cylinder engine, while the GT trims come with a more powerful V6. The higher trims, GT1 and GT2, also offer more luxurious features and advanced technology.

Kia offers two powertrains for the Stinger. The base GT-Line employs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 255 horsepower, while the higher trims come with a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 365 hp. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available as an option.

Initially, the Stinger came with a standard 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, with an upgraded 8-inch unit available on higher trims. The model’s 2022 refresh made a larger 10.3-inch touchscreen standard across all trims. It also added a larger digital instrument cluster and more standard advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Most of these were previously optional or limited to higher-level trims.

For used car buyers seeking a Kia Stinger, the 2022 model year with its mid-cycle refresh offers the most up-to-date technology and styling. However, earlier models, particularly the sportier GT trims, still provide a great balance of performance, comfort, and value.

2018 Kia Stinger Premium

Very impressed even with the 2.0 engine. Make sure you at least get the premium as the Base has practically zero features

2018 Kia Stinger GT2

Our Stinger has great interior and exterior styling. The safety features include state of the art sensors that monitor all of your driving needs including a heads up display that shows you everything on your windshield. The interior includes a two tone leather seats and very clean and simple dash board controls. Our stinger came equipped with all wheel drive, twin turbo V6 motor and larger Bimbo brakes on all four corners. The car was designed with very smooth air, (aero) sporty styling that gives it a fresh look in today's car market.
