The first of its kind in the Kia lineup to be designed from concept to construction as an all-electric vehicle, the EV6 is a true trailblazer for the South Korean manufacturer. With stylish looks and engineering tilted towards driving enjoyment, the EV6 is an exciting new entrant in the sprawling EV marketplace.

It’s clear that when you’re behind the wheel of an EV6 that it was designed with the driver firmly in mind. Its quickness off the line won’t have you feeling like you’re pulling Gs in the cockpit of a fighter jet, but it certainly is pacy, as the GT-Line trim jumps from 0 to 60 mph in just under five seconds. This split puts the EV6 on par with the tried-and-true Tesla Model Y.

Furthermore, its smooth ride and stiff suspension offer a satisfying blend of luxury and sportiness. With responsive, precise steering, the EV6 feels easy to control, making it one of the most fun-to-drive all-electric SUVs.

The EV6 also offers ample room for passengers seated both in the front and the rear. Thanks to to its flat floor and a wheelbase that is equivalent to the three-row Kia Telluride, the interior of the EV6 feels especially spacious, with head, shoulder, and leg room on par with competitors such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Tesla Model Y. Taller passengers may, however, feel a bit cramped when seated in the back, as the EV6’s sloping roofline reduces rear head room.

It’s also worth noting that the EV6 is compatible with the latest fast-charging stations. Kia boasts that the EV6 can replenish 70 miles of range in less than five minutes, while going from 10% battery life to 80% battery life in under 18 minutes when hooked to a 350-kWh charger. The drawback is that most contemporary fast-charging stations offer 50 to 125 kWh chargers, though the EV6 will be somewhat “future-proofed” as more 350-kWh chargers come on line.

Kia EV6 Model Lineup

The EV6 is an all-electric vehicle that straddles the line between crossover and hatchback, seating up to five individuals. Classified as a “small” crossover, the EV6 represents a happy medium between the relatively diminutive Kia Sportage and the larger Kia Sorento, a three-row SUV.

Sold in four trim levels (Light, Wing, GT-Line, and 1st Edition), the EV6 offers different combinations of battery packs, electric motors, and rear or all-wheel drive options. These range from a rear-wheel-drive only setup with a single rear-mounted electric motor (167 horsepower) and 58-kWh battery pack on the base-level Light trim, to a dual-electric motor (576 horsepower), all-wheel drive configuration with a 77.4-kWh battery pack available on the premium-level GT-Line.

The 1st Edition trim was produced on a limited scale that’s only available for the 2022 model year. It is based on the all-wheel drive GT-Line (and includes the Technology package, which is optional on Wind and standard on the GT-Line) and comes with additional styling options.
