Jaguar XK

In a world of increasingly generic cars, the Jaguar XK stands out – not just for its elegant good looks but also for its finely crafted cabin and authoritative V8 engine. The two-door Jag is a grand tourer of the finest order, offering a terrific balance of comfort and performance. Even if you’re just fetching groceries, it makes you feel like you’re headed for a weekend in Monaco. Not surprisingly, owners of the XK praise the car for its striking design and its refined and ample power. On the downside, the model gets some flak for its high running costs and somewhat cramped cabin, especially the minuscule rear seats.

Jaguar XK Model Lineup

The Jaguar XK is a luxury grand tourer that’s available in either coupe or convertible form. While it has four seats, it’s primarily a two-passenger vehicle because the rear seats are quite small. The XK was discontinued after the 2015 model year, having been supplanted in the British automaker’s lineup by the sportier F-Type coupe and convertible.

Jaguar sold the XK in two main versions: the XK and the high-performance XKR. Since 2010, both have been powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine. In the XK, it makes 385 horsepower, while in the XKR, it makes an additional 125 ponies (510 total) thanks to the addition of a supercharger. In 2012, Jaguar added an even more powerful variant, the XKR-S, which ups output to 550 hp. All versions utilize a six-speed automatic transmission, which routes power to the rear wheels (only). No hybrid or electric versions were made.

As a premium model, the XK comes very well-equipped. Even the lowest available trim level (called Touring) includes luxuries such as keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. Available options include adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning, HD radio, and adaptive headlights. Note that the latter two became standard features in 2015, while the former was discontinued that same year. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were never offered.
