INFINITI QX80

The three-row QX80 takes the Nissan Armada as its rugged base and adds heaps of upscale features and distinctive design elements to justify its premium Infiniti badge. The result is a plush and spacious sport utility with commendable off-road and towing capabilities. Not surprisingly, owners of the flagship SUV from Nissan’s luxury division name ride comfort, roominess, and four-wheel-drive prowess as favorite attributes. On the downside, the QX80’s powerful V8 engine returns disappointing fuel economy, and its third row isn’t large enough to fit most adults comfortably. Nevertheless, it remains a solid value in the competitive full-size luxury SUV segment.

INFINITI QX80 Model Lineup

The QX80 is a full-size luxury SUV with three rows and room for seven or eight people, depending on the configuration. As Infiniti’s largest sport-ute, it measures about a foot longer than the midsize QX60. The QX80 shares a platform and some components with the Nissan Armada, sold by Infiniti’s parent company. Prior to 2014, the model was called the QX56.

Infiniti offers the QX80 in a few different trims, including the entry-level Luxe, the mid-tier Premium Select, and the fully loaded Sensory (which was called the Limited prior to 2021). All versions come well equipped with high-end features, including leather upholstery, a power liftgate, three-zone automatic climate control, and a surround-view camera. Infiniti has also added some desirable standard tech features through the years, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in 2020 and adaptive cruise control in 2021.

Under the hood, the QX80 employs a 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine making 400 horsepower. It’s backed by a seven-speed automatic transmission, which routes power either to the rear wheels (standard) or to all four when equipped with optional four-wheel drive. No hybrid or electric variants have been offered.

I fully researched every SUV on the market and found the QX80 met all my needs. This is the last car I will purchase and wanted comfort and luxury and found it in this vehicle. Only thing I would change about the QX80-give it a larger gas tank, otherwise it is perfect.

I only have one disappointment. Their entertainment system is using at least 13-year-old technology. Divx movies. Should have Blu-Ray and play Apple videos from USB or Apple product.

The outside mirrors need to be larger. There also should be more interior colors.

You need to make the back row fold down flat. Poor storage results. I will not buy a new one with rear seats that fold like this. Also, and minor: Can't read the seat warmer buttons. Maybe have auto display on screen when changed. It's too small to read.

The only thing missing is the ability to lower the vehicle for passenger loading. This is an outstanding option if one has aging parents to transport. Other than that, the Infiniti QX80 is an amazing vehicle and we love it!

I love my new QX80! It definitely feels like a luxury vehicle, and I love all of the added comfort and convenience features. My only request would be for more cup holders. :)

When you put the third row seat down it should lay flat. I third row seat should also have sone clearance under it so it doesn't feel like a jumper seat.
