INFINITI QX70

In the early 2000s, Infiniti became one of the first luxury automakers to introduce a performance-oriented SUV. The shapely crossover, originally known as the FX and rechristened the QX70 in 2014, is based on Nissan’s legendary Z-series sports car, sharing both its athletic, rear-drive architecture and its powerful V6 engine. Owners of the QX70 rate it highly for these qualities as well as its distinctive styling and luxe interior. On the downside, some find rear seat comfort and interior storage lacking. Fuel economy in the QX70 is also a sore spot with some owners.

INFINITI QX70 Model Lineup

Produced from 2014 through 2017, the QX70 is a midsize luxury crossover SUV with room for up to five people. It’s the larger of two performance-oriented sport-utes from Infiniti, measuring about four inches longer than the compact QX50. Both models share a platform and some components with the Nissan Z-series, a sports coupe built by Infiniti's parent company. Prior to 2014, the model was known as the Infiniti FX.

Infiniti sold the QX70 in two trims, which correspond both to equipment levels and engine size. The entry-level 3.7 employs a 3.7-liter V6 engine that makes 325 horsepower, while the top-tier 5.0 (which was discontinued in 2015) utilizes a 5.0-liter V8 producing 390 hp. Both engines are backed by a seven-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard on the 5.0 and optional on the 3.7, which is otherwise rear-wheel drive.

The QX70 boasts a long list of standard features, including xenon headlights, a sunroof, a power liftgate, keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 7.0-inch infotainment display with Bluetooth connectivity and an integrated rearview camera. The 5.0 trim also includes parking sensors, ventilated front seats, and an upgraded 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation and a surround-view camera – features that are also available on the 3.7 trim as options. Other notable options include adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, and lane-keeping assist.
