Hyundai Elantra GT

The Elantra GT takes Hyundai's affordable and stylish Elantra sedan and adds the versatility of a hatchback. It’s a winning combination, which owners appreciate not just for its ample cargo space but also for its easy around-town maneuverability and overall fun-to-drive nature. On the downside, some find the base engine a bit underpowered and the back seat somewhat cramped. In addition, many desirable tech and safety features, including adaptive cruise control and blind-spot warning, are only available as options.

Hyundai Elantra GT Model Lineup

Produced from 2013 through 2020, the Elantra GT is a four-door hatchback based on Hyundai’s popular compact sedan, the Elantra. Sizewise, it slots between the sporty Veloster and the fuel-efficient Ioniq Hybrid in the Korean automaker’s hatchback lineup. The Elantra GT shares a platform and some components with the Kia Forte hatchback (also known as the Forte5), which was built by Hyundai’s sister company through the 2018 model year.

The Elantra GT comes in two main trims: the base model and the performance-themed Sport trim, which first appeared in 2018 and was renamed N-Line the following year. The base model debuted with a 148-horsepower 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, which was upgraded to a 173-hp 2.0-liter unit in 2014. Finally, in 2018, the base engine saw a slight drop in power to 160 ponies. The Sport/N-Line trim, on the other hand, offers a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 201 hp. Power is routed to the front wheels (only) via a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional automatic, which gets six forward gears in the base trim and is upgraded to a seven-speed dual-clutch unit in the Sport/N-Line.

Standard equipment on the Elantra GT is relatively sparse but does include heated front seats and, starting in 2018, an 8.0-inch center touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The list of available options is long, however, and includes keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and navigation. In 2018, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward collision mitigation, and blind-spot warning also became available as options.

2015 Hyundai Elantra GT 4 Dr Hatchback

Concerned about my panoramic roof shattering for no reason. With no explanation, except my own research, it changes your confidence in your vehicle.

2015 Hyundai Elantra GT 4 Dr Hatchback

New Hyundai has great MPG. It is much lighter than any previously owned vehicles; the ''bouncy'' ride was a concern at first but it handles very well. I do not like to vacate/open car to access gas fill or cargo space - an inconvenience at times and could be dangerous.
