Honda Accord Model Lineup

The Accord is a midsize sedan that seats up to five passengers and is positioned above the compact Civic in Honda’s passenger car lineup. In the past decade, the Accord has seen several generational updates. The ninth generation debuted in 2013, bringing a more refined and fuel-efficient powertrain along with updated styling, and the tenth generation was introduced in 2018, featuring a completely redesigned exterior, a more spacious interior, and the introduction of turbocharged engines. An eleventh generation is expected to launch in 2023.

The Accord comes in a few different trims, including LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The base LX provides essential features, while the Sport, introduced in 2013, adds some performance-inspired design elements and upgrades. The EX gains convenience features such as heated front seats and blind-spot monitoring, and the EX-L builds on that, adding leather upholstery and an upgraded audio system. The top-of-the-line Touring offers luxury features such as a head-up display and ventilated front seats. Honda also offers a fuel-efficient variant, the Accord Hybrid, which is reviewed separately.

The ninth generation Accord (2013-2017) offers a choice between a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 185 horsepower and a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 278 hp. Both engines are can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission (a continuously variable automatic (CVT) with the four-cylinder or a traditional six-speed for the V6.) The tenth generation (2018-present) replaces those engines with two turbocharged options: a 1.5-liter four-cylinder producing 192 hp and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 252 hp. A six-speed manual transmission was offered through 2020, but most tenth-gen Accords are equipped with an automatic (a CVT with the 1.5-liter or a 10-speed automatic with the 2.0-liter).

Inside the cabin, the Accord offers an available 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, which became standard on all but the base trim in 2018. That same year, several notable advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking, also became standard equipment as part of the Honda Sensing suite.

If you’re considering a used Accord, we recommend 2018 or later models for their updated styling, more efficient powertrains, and advanced technology features. Among trims, the EX and EX-L both offer a good balance between affordability and available features.

We don't like the bar that goes across the back window. Not sure why we did not realize it when we test drove the Crosstour. And the hatchback it difficult to open and close. We were disappointed to realize there was no security cover for the trunck/cargo area. It does not get the gas mileage that was stated and we are not sure why. We have basically driven it in town. Other than those issues we love it. It handles well and is very comfortable to ride in and is easy to get in and out of. The radio and a/c is very good. We love the comfortable interior and the quite ride. The Crosstour handles well we used True car and other sites to research the car and had a quick purchase of the car. We are disappointed that it does not have a cargo cover for the trunk. But other than that we are really enjoying our new car.

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid Base Sedan (4-Cylinder)

This is important. My wife and I bought the Accord hybrid for its high EPA rated fuel efficiency and our experience with the Prius and the Honda Civic hybrids. We actually traded in both these cars for the new Accord hybrid. Our new Accord Hybrid handles beautifully, is nicely styled and seems very well-built, BUT OUR REALIZED FUEL MPH IS NOT AS ADVERTISED. We were expecting something in the mid 40s for combined driving. we are getting 33.5 mpg. I realize it is now winter and not the best conditions for optimal performance, but we are very disappointed. We both expected better from Honda. I will not recommend Honda Hybrids to my friends and if I were to make this purchase in hindsight, I would go with the Prius V.

This car has far exceeded my expectations. It's well built, fun to drive and has a well-designed cockpit. The only thing I don't like is the driver's side view mirror with the horizontal split to allow greater viewing of potential blind spots. I get the idea, but at night it adds more confusion than benefit.
