FIAT 500X

Fiats are known for their Italian flair, and the 500X delivers it in spades. It stands out from others in the crowded subcompact crossover segment thanks to its shapely sheet metal, vibrant colors, and stylish interior. Since 2019, the 500X also boasts a punchy turbocharged engine and standard all-wheel drive. Owners of the pint-sized sport-ute praise it for these qualities as well as its excellent balance of ride comfort and handling. On the downside, the 500X earns a few demerits for its fussy infotainment system, cramped rear seat, and lackluster MPGs.

FIAT 500X Model Lineup

The 500X is a subcompact crossover SUV with room for up to five people. It’s currently the only model in Fiat’s U.S. lineup. The 500X shares a platform and some components with the Jeep Renegade, which is built by Fiat’s sister company under the Stellantis group of automotive brands.

Fiat has sold the 500X in a variety of trims, including the entry-level Pop, the upgraded Easy, the mid-range Trekking, the performance-themed Sport, the well-equipped Lounge, and the range-topping Trekking Plus. The base trim (Pop) offers mostly basic features, such as cloth seats, air conditioning, and cruise control, but it did gain a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration starting in 2018. For additional premium features, buyers must step up to higher trims, which can be fitted with heated front seats, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and navigation. Most safety tech, including blind-spot warning, forward collision mitigation, and adaptive cruise control (first offered in 2019), is optional on the 500X.

Fiat offered the 500X with two different engines at its 2016 launch. The base-level Pop came with a 160-horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated a six-speed manual transmission, while other trims offered a 180-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a nine-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive was standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option on all versions other than the Pop. In 2019, a new 1.3-liter turbo four-cylinder became the sole available engine. Backed by a nine-speed automatic, it offers 177 ponies and comes standard with all-wheel drive. No hybrid or electric versions of the 500X have been sold.

If you like to drive, want the comfort of an SUV but something more zippy without being in a sedan and you LOVE low tech cars... this one has everything you need with a little retro feel about the cockpit area - 500X is your car

The Fiat 500X is a nice SUV, but a little on the small side. I like the power in the engine and it gets good gas mileage. Three downsides for me with this SUV are:1) it can get really loud inside if you're travelling on the expressway with the windows halfway down or even a little bit cracked2) the window button will sometimes do the opposite of what you want (pulling the button up is supposed to raise the window, but sometimes the window will go down)3) due to the size of the SUV, tall people or wide people will not fit too comfortably in the rear. Overall, it has some nice features and for the price, it's a decent buy.

2016 Fiat 500X Easy FWD

this is a very fun to drive vehicle. offers good fuel economy and fair storage capacity. it does have a view quirks or negative issues, but you will learn to live with them, with the good features overwhelming the bad stuff.
