Cadillac XT4

Cadillac makes its first foray into the subcompact crossover market with the XT4. While it lives up to the luxury automaker’s high standards when it comes to styling and interior comfort, the small Caddy disappoints in other areas, including powertrain refinement and ride smoothness. Additionally, some desirable features, including heated seats and most active safety gear, are only available on higher trims or as options, which can drive up the price. That leaves the XT4 lagging behind class leaders such as the BMW X1 and the Volvo XC40.

Cadillac XT4 Model Lineup

The XT4 is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV with room for up to five passengers. It’s the smallest sport-ute in Cadillac’s lineup, measuring about nine inches shorter than the next larger model, the compact XT5. The XT4 shares a platform and some components with the Buick Envision, made by Cadillac’s sister company.

Cadillac offers the XT4 in three trims: the base-level Luxury, the well-equipped Premium Luxury, and the performance-themed Sport. Standard features include LED headlights, keyless entry and ignition, remote start, and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Among the available upgrades are leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a sunroof. With the exception of forward collision mitigation, which became standard in 2020, most available active safety features are optional, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and lane-keeping assist.

Under the hood, the XT4 utilizes a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 237 horsepower. It’s backed by a nine-speed automatic transmission, which drives the front wheels unless the car is equipped with optional all-wheel drive. No hybrid or electric versions have been offered.

The XT-4 is an awesome vehicle to own if you can get into one for the right price. The only downfall is the navigation system that tends to send you on detours that are unnecessary and it does not learn from your driving experience the correct route.

The vehicle is great to drive and ride in. It is a well made vehicle with good gas mileage and easy to manage. It is not too small and not too big for me.

The size of the shopper is a big influence on the size of the vehicle you would want to purchase. Test drive in for more than a run around the block to make sure you are getting exactly what you want in a car. It is difficult when you take the short rides. Try to take it home to make an informative decision.
