Buick Envision

The Buick Envision may not be a class-leading crossover SUV, but it is well-rounded in virtually every regard – a true jack of all trades, master of none. Those expecting top-notch utility for towing or hauling or first-class luxury as it relates to interior appointments may be left wanting. Yet, with attractive exterior styling and a substantial list of available driver and safety features, the Envision delivers for those seeking a practical and refined sport-ute.

Buick Envision Model Lineup

The Envision is a compact luxury crossover SUV with seating for five. It slots above the smaller Encore GX and below Buick’s largest SUV, the Enclave, effectively making it the middle child in the lineup. The Envision shares a platform and some components with the less expensive Chevrolet Equinox and the more upscale Cadillac XT4.

Buick has offered the Envision in a wide variety of trims over the years before settling on three – the entry-level Preferred, the mid-tier Essence, and the range-topping Avenir – following a complete redesign of the vehicle for the 2021 model year. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine (230 hp) mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission has been standard across the Envision lineup since that time. However, first-generation (2016-2020) Envision owners had a choice of either a 2.5-liter four-cylinder (197 hp) or a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder (252 hp). Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive optional on all but the highest trim levels, which get standard all-wheel drive. No hybrid or electric variants have been offered.

Popular tech features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been standard on the Envision since 2017, while desired safety features such as blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision mitigation have only been standard since 2021 (and optional before that). Adaptive cruise control is available on the highest-level trims and packages.

We really like the ride. It has class, plenty of power and is comfortable. I would prefer better mpg.

The Buick Envision is a great SUV style vehicle It has a lot of room inside and drives beautifully- smooth and quiet. The sound system is hard to beat. Love the Bose speakers. The seating is super comfortable and all the amenities really make this car valuable.

The Envision is great midsize SUV with all the amenities. The gas mileage is good at 26 mpg. I love that it is all-wheel drive for winter driving in the Mid-west. has heated front and rear seats make it comfortable for everyone.

The heated seats take too long to heat. I live in Michigan and expect the seats to heat immediately. My previous vehicle, an Equinox had great heated seats.

This vehicle has great pick up for a 4 cylinder and I can't believe the gas mileage I get for it being 4 wheel drive.

You will not like the work it takes to hook the seat belt.

The fact that it requires premium fuel may be a negative aspect of the car.
