Buick Cascada

The Cascada, which Buick sold from 2016 through 2019, fits an unusual niche: it’s a luxury convertible with four seats and a relatively affordable price tag. Developed by Buick’s sister company, Opel, it also boasts a German pedigree, and owners of the premium drop-top appreciate it for its attractive design, well-appointed interior, and overall comfort. On the downside, the only available engine (a 1.6-liter turbo four) struggles to move the Cascada’s nearly 4,000-pound mass with much authority – and gets mediocre fuel economy to boot. Additionally, the cramped rear seats are best left to children.

Buick Cascada Model Lineup

The Cascada is a premium four-seat convertible that Buick sold from 2016 through 2019, when it was discontinued without a replacement. It was the only convertible in the automaker’s lineup and is based on the Opel Cascada, which was developed by Buick’s sister company in Germany.

Buick sold the Cascada in three trims: the well-equipped base version, the fully loaded Premium, and the uniquely styled Sport Touring, which first appeared in 2017. Standard features across the lineup include a power-retractable soft top, remote start, rear parking sensors, leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with an integrated rearview camera. Stepping up to the Premium trim adds front parking sensors, navigation, forward collision warning, and lane-departure warning. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto weren’t offered on the Cascada, nor was adaptive cruise control or a blind-spot warning system.

Under the hood, the Cascada utilizes a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 200 horsepower. Output is routed to the front wheels (only) via a six-speed automatic transmission. No hybrid or electric versions were made.

For the price and looks of this vehicle, I would definitely consider the Buick Cascada if you are looking for a distinctive convertible.

This vehicle is fun to drive and sporty looking while still giving you some flexibility with a rear seat. Most of all it is front wheel drive so you can drive it year round despite it being a convertible.

I love the ease of lowering the roof, I get comments on the styling all the time, and no one can believe it's a Buick

Since I drive a convertible I assumed there would be a lock on the glove compartment. Have had 7 convertibles. All had locks on glove compartment. Last one a Toyota Camry Solara I loved had a lock on glove compartment, and a lock for the gas cap and the trunk. Toyota doesn't make that car anymore but I would have bought another one in a second. It was a better size than Buick Cascada.

The Cascada is a joy to drive. Never owned a convertible and now I do. Love it.

it is a show stopper to drive. It solid, good looking and a "cruising" car. This is not a grocery getter. We use a extra vehicle for special days.
