BMW X2

The X2 proves that good things do come in small packages. BMW’s sporty little crossover packs plenty of panache and loads of luxury into its city-friendly footprint. Owners also appreciate the X2 for its zippy handling and relatively strong fuel economy. On the downside, that swept-back rear roofline makes it less practical than the more traditionally shaped X1 (on which the X2 is based). But the X2 still offers reasonable utility, especially for those who only occasionally need to haul lots of people or stuff. And it’s a lot more fun.

BMW X2 Model Lineup

The X2 is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV with room for up to five passengers. Based on the boxier X1, it trades a bit of that model’s rear seat and cargo space for a sportier coupe-like design. The X2 is the smallest fastback SUV in BMW’s lineup, measuring about 15 inches shorter than the next size up, the X4.

BMW sells the X2 in three different trims, which correspond primarily to the included powertrain. The base-level sDrive28i employs a 228-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine driving the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the mid-level xDrive28i utilizes the same engine and gearbox but adds all-wheel drive. At the top of the range is the sporty M35i, which first appeared in 2019. It offers a more potent version of BMW’s turbo four-cylinder making just over 300 hp; it also boasts larger brakes, a limited-slip front differential, and standard all-wheel drive. No hybrid or electric versions of the X2 have been offered.

Inside the cabin, the X2 includes numerous premium features, even on the base model. They include LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and a power liftgate. Starting in 2019, Apple CarPlay became standard equipment; however, Android Auto has yet to be offered. Numerous other upgrades are available, though, including leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. BMW added forward collision mitigation and lane-departure warning as standard safety tech in 2019. Adaptive cruise control has also been offered as an option since the model’s 2018 debut.

Get the one with bells and whistles . e.g.: parking sensors, lane change sensors.

Great car! If you are looking for something that is sporty and efficient, this is it. This is the best purchase I made and I am so happy with this car.

2018 BMW X2 xDrive28i

I am not thrilled with the X2 as much as I liked the X3. The Bluetooth phone system does not work nearly as well. The car door locks all the time. As many times as you press unlock the rear doors never seem to unlock - a real pain. The seat belt is hard to use. The fuel saver is not automatic - you need to remember to put it on each time you start the car. My satellite radio pops off all the time and goes to Pandora - a real pain.. The car just seems to have some issues.

I like the car's design, the way it drives and handles, it feels tight and peppy.

The BMW X2 has superior styling. The roof line and style of the front grill is aggressive. Interior styling and available features make you feel empowered. The X2 comes with all the reliability from a top brand. Pricing is competitive. The look, feel and performance will turn every head you pass.
