About the team and position

We’re building our next generation of Field Safe and Secure leaders, and we’re looking for driven, coachable candidates ready to grow into a Manager, Field Safe and Secure role. This is a structured, hands-on developmental position, not a stand-alone facility leadership role on day one. You will work directly alongside an experienced Manager, learning the full scope of the Manager, Field Safe and Secure role at their facility and taking on increasing ownership of those same responsibilities as you demonstrate readiness. The program is designed to prepare you for placement as a Manager, Field Safe and Secure at a facility within your assigned region. This role requires willingness to relocate, at minimum regionally, once placement into a Manager role is ready. Candidates should be open to being placed at whichever facility within their assigned region has the greatest need.

What you’ll be doing

  • Shadow and assist an experienced Field Safe and Secure Manager in the day-to-day leadership of a Safe and Secure Team, building toward independently leading recruiting, hiring, onboarding, coaching, and scheduling for a team of Safe and Secure Associates.
  • Rotate through and build working knowledge of each core function of the role: Associate Safety, Site Physical Security, Inventory Control, Crisis Management, and Business Continuity, partnering with the Facility Leadership Team (Operations, Wholesale, Logistics, and People Operations) under guidance.
  • Work with the Inventory Control Analyst and Associate team to learn the vehicle-exception research and tracking process, and observe and assist with the stolen vehicle reporting process.
  • Learn the Safe and Secure technology infrastructure (access control, card badging, camera systems) and how it is used to promote a safe and secure environment for our associates.
  • Learn the Card Access process at our facility(s), partnering with the Safe and Secure Function Lead who owns day-to-day execution of badge issuance and building access.
  • Participate in Daily Production walks, documenting issues and practicing developing remedies alongside your assigned mentor or manager. Support the implementation of new hire Safe and Secure training under supervision, building toward independently leading this training.
  • Support the implementation of EHS protocols under supervision, in partnership with the Enterprise Safe and Secure Team and the respective Carvana Business Unit, building toward independently leading this partnership.
  • Actively participate in identifying and resolving issues affecting the Safe and Secure Program, with increasing independence as competency is demonstrated.
  • Learn to track and report on key performance indicators and exception-based reporting used to mitigate risk and identify trends.
  • Observe and assist with inquiries of internal and external theft and fraud, in close partnership with HR Operations, the Associate Director, and applicable operating departments, building toward independently ensuring these are properly conducted.
  • Actively represent Carvana in the local community, including with local police, fire, prosecuting offices, and emergency management agencies.
  • Foster open and productive working relationships with other applicable company departments.
  • Exercise prudent discretion regarding confidential and sensitive personnel information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Domestic travel required - 40%. Willingness to relocate regionally at a minimum, is required once ready for placement into a Manager, Field Safe and Secure role.
