So I found Carvana in what Bob Ross would have called a "happy little accident", and I'm glad I did. Looking at cars on the internet while drinking wine, having fancy cheese plates, and wearing whatever configuration of clothing you want is literally what the internet was invented for (sorry weird cats). As an added bonus, there's no haggling, and no pushy sales people, both of which are the opposite of "on fleek" as the kids say nowadays.
The search options made it easy to find the car I was interested in (hello third row seat, 20-inch rims, and leather interior). The 360 view made it easy enough to inspect all the dents, dings, and bonus features. Once I selected a car, it was immediately reserved for me. Giving me enough time to muddle through my third party financing with just a couple of phone calls (thanks Katie, and Logan) and convince my wife that she needed this car like we need our wine and fancy cheeses.
The car was delivered by Chris on a Monday. It was sunny outside, although I'm not sure that's important. The kids were ridiculously excited, and super pushy about making sure we bought the car. I suppose five and a half year olds and eight and a half year olds can be that way though…also the fact that their however many years old and a half is real important to them. Chris on the other had was pretty mellow, not only did he not seem to care about his age or half years at all, or even mention it, it seemed like he was just there to answer questions, facilitate the process, and help us sign paperwork, so thanks Chris.
Currently (at least when this was first written) we're in the 7 day trial period. We did take the car to a mechanic, because I'm a grown up, and I'm supposed to do things like that before dropping many thousands of dollars on something. It checked out mostly ok. There are a couple of minor maintenance issues we'll have to take care of in the next 12 to 24 months (alignment, battery, tires, and perhaps a strut or two)…but it's not a new car, so it was somewhat expected.
All in all, it's been a great experience so far. I highly recommend Carvana, even though I don't work for them, and they aren't even paying me to do it. The experience has been easy, their staff is nice, and the cars aren't too bad either.
