Let's start with the positives:
- Incredible selection. They had every specific car we were considering.Â
- The 7-day return policy is amazing.Â
- It was incredibly convenient. I bought this from my iPad in bed.Â
- The customer service on the purchasing side was really good. They answered several questions on chat and on the phone quickly, easily, and accurately.Â
I bought this car about 9 days ago. Â Contrary to what the website would lead you to believe at first glance, it was not free delivery. There was a "transit fee" to get the car from Arizona to North Carolina and a "delivery fee" to get the car to my house. After reading the policy I decided to change my shipping address to within 50 miles of the Raleigh Vending Machine to avoid the delivery fee. Â The website initially told us that delivery was available on Tuesday, but at checkout that changed to Thursday.Â
When the Pathfinder arrived (10 minutes late) it was not exactly as described. The one flaw listed on the ad was a small rock chip on the hood. Reality was (1) 5 inch scratch on the passenger side, (2) 6 inch scratches on the drivers side, a hole in the 2nd row seat behind the driver, paint splatter on the 2nd row seats, dog hair and small dog related scratches throughout the interior, buffing scratches all over the hood (looks like someone used a dirty buffer), chips on the drivers door, and several chips on the hood. Additionally, only 1 key was provided (that'll cost me ~$300) and there was no owner's manual. I'm not super demanding, but the car was not properly detailed either. They vacuumed the carpets, washed it, and called it good. There were crumbs under the seats and in the shifter, and dust on areas of the interior.Â
Carvana offered $100 for the seat repair and to reimburse a fraction of a detail. They offered a pdf of the owner's manual. They refused to do anything about the key. The guy who dropped the car off said "We don't disclose everything because it would detract buyers." Â Really? Â No kidding. I'm paying retail for a retail vehicle with 10,000 miles and I got a private party quality vehicle that I paid retail value for.Â
That's pretty much the gist. I paid retail for the convenience of shopping online, but I did not get a retail quality vehicle. Because what we wanted was so specific and I could not find a duplicate within 7 days I took the offer (which came on day 6 after we submitted the day after we picked it up). If I would have found another identical car, I would have returned it. Â The customer service needs work too. You people are a retail car delearship. Act like one. There will be zero loyalty from me to you, and I was super pumped to do business with you before all of this.Â
