1. Call prior to arrival and told the car needs an oil change - can either wait 3 days or can change it myself and submit for reimbursement - I travel during the week so really didnt have much of a choice - 4 hours of my time at dealership.
2. Scratch on car upon arrival. - Not a deal killer
3. Only one key - worth $350 but still not a deal killer
4. No charging cable - $1,200 - deal killer!
Told delivery driver that if the car had no charger he should go ahead and put back on trailer. He calls local shop and told me they contacted two local dealerships and they would have to order one for me. Ok, cool, all good, right? Wrong! I was told I would have charger within a couple of days.......that was a lie. After several phone calls (waited on hold 10mins or more each time) I was told the same thing, "it will be delivered in a day or so". Well, day 9 rolls around and I receive a package and it's an after market charging cable that does not have the functionality/programming component as the OEM cable and is worth $350 vs $1,200. I call and they tell me that per their contract that they are no obligated to provide missing "accessories" and that it is up to them on what to provide if they do provide a replacement or they can now take the car back. Well, I feel extremely cheated as I was always under the impression that Carvana was ordering the cable from the manufacturer/dealer since thats what I was told on day number 1 and the car is what I need for commuting.
Admittedly, they gave me a $350 credit for scratch - yet here it is, day 15 and I have NO check. Also, they lucked out because the dealership changed the oil at no cost, but I lost 4 hours of my life (yes, ridiculous that it took that long, and I will not be bringing the car back for regular maintenance because of this).
So, buyer beware! Read and understand the contract and be sure to get everything that belongs with the car prior to signing and accepting, as Carvana will change what they say verbally. I highly suggest that you NOT take possession of the car at all unless everything is with it, as swapping back is a PITA.
